About the event

Join us on October 30th for Growing Justice: A Youth-Led Autumn Convergence, a student showcase and Halloween potluck led by Bronx youth transforming their school grounds into a hub for food justice, climate resilience, and community care.

As Halloween weekend and the Harvest season mark both an ending and beginning, we’ll gather in the Walton Campus Garden to celebrate a year of regeneration — in the soil, the land, our classrooms, and community.

In the Bronx Community District 5—an area with some of the city’s lowest access to green space and highest climate vulnerability—students are reclaiming 5,000 sq ft of underused school space as a model for school-based environmental transformation through the Walton Campus Urban Agriculture Program, powered by Start:Empowerment and the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP).

What to Expect:

  1. Guided Tour: Explore the 5,000 sq ft garden with Bronx youth leaders, educators and Start:Empowerment staff. Hear about the multi-year…
